igsh.tv Creator FAQ — Pinata, deleting videos, getting paid (2026)
Published Jul 15, 2026
Straight answers for igsh.tv creators: why you need a Pinata key, whether you can delete a video on a blockchain, which key does what, and how you actually get paid.
Short, honest answers to the questions creators actually ask on igsh.tv. New to uploading? Start with the creator setup guide.
Why do I need Pinata?
igsh.tv has no server of its own. Your video file is stored on IPFS, and something has to “pin” it there so it stays online — that’s what Pinata does. You bring your own free Pinata key so the pin belongs to you. Watching, tipping, and commenting need no Pinata key at all — only uploading does. Setup takes a few minutes: how to set up video uploading.
Do viewers need a Pinata key?
No. Viewers just watch. A Pinata key is only for people who upload videos.
Is my Pinata JWT safe to paste into igsh.tv?
Yes — it’s your own key, and igsh.tv keeps it only in that browser tab for the current session. It is never saved to storage, the URL, or logs. Still, treat it like a password: don’t share it or paste it into other sites. If it ever leaks, revoke that key in Pinata and create a new one.
Can I delete a video?
Be aware of how a blockchain works: a post on Hive is permanent and public. You can edit a post or blank out its text, but the original is still recorded on-chain, and the video file may stay pinned on IPFS. So there is no true “delete.” Only publish what you’re comfortable leaving online. (More on this: what is the Hive blockchain.)
Which key does what?
- Posting key — logging in and posting (day-to-day).
- Active key — tips and transfers (money).
- Owner key — recovery and changing keys only. Never use it for everyday actions, and don’t add it to Keychain for normal use.
Full setup: Hive Keychain.
How do I actually get paid?
Two ways, both on Hive:
- Tips from viewers go straight to your Hive wallet (they sign with their Active key). You keep 97%; a 3% platform share supports igsh.tv. See how tips work.
- Post rewards accrue on the Hive post and settle after about 7 days. See how creators get paid and how to claim rewards.
My upload failed — what do I check?
- The value in the Pinata JWT field is the JWT (a long line starting with
eyJ), not the API Key ID or Secret. - The Pinata key can upload files (the files write permission; Admin is not required).
- You’re signed in with Hive Keychain and your account is added to it.
Step-by-step: post your first video.
Do I need to buy HIVE to start?
No. Uploading and getting tips don’t require you to hold HIVE. You only need HIVE if you want to tip other creators. If you do, here’s how to get HIVE — pick any reputable exchange available in your country.
